After doing Humpherys yesterday and not getting out of Flagstaff before dark I decided to stay the night. (I need to do this more often) Anyway I woke this morning and looked in the book to see if there was anything I could hike and still get to work this afternoon. Perfect a short little 1 mile hike up at Sunset Crater National Monument. The Lenox Crater Trail. Off I went. When I saw 300 feet elevation gain and a mile round trip I thought this will be a breeze. Wrong, the trip up that little hill does require some effort as it is like walking in sand but rather it is the cinder cone debris. Really cool views and a lot of history packed into this little journey.
