Kind of a "Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner" thing". He laughed and said I should to it to push myself. It went from a cool idea to a great little challenge.
Today I set out to have my Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Hiking Northern Arizona Style. What a cool day!
Here we go:
Leave Scottsdale last night after work and head up to Williams where I stayed the night. Up at 7 and on the trail after a brief stop at Circle K. Hike starts at 8:17 and off I go for "Breakfast". I have to tell you that this is one of the coolest trails to hike as it is really scenic and there is a ton of shade from all the trees as you progress up. I felt like I was in a lush garden under a canopy of Aspens and Firs. I pretty much had the trail to myself the whole way up as I only saw a Forest Ranger on the trail. As I approached the top I went out on the Rock Outcropping and the views were dynamite. Final stretch on up to the Fire Tower where I met Don the Fire Ranger. Super cool and accommodating guy. Spent about 10 minutes with him and had to be on my way as I had lunch plans with Kendrick. Down I went on and hit the car by the Ranger Station at 10:47am.
As a side note I followed this trail as prescribed but I feel it is only around 7 miles not 8. I say this based on my time up and back. I don't have a GPS but I feel pretty in tune with my speed and I don't want to over state.
Photos to follow tomorrow as I am staying the night in Flag. |
