This was my first time out to the Four Peaks with one goal in mind, complete the Mother Lode. I was also going solo, which made it all the more dangerous but also made me focus harder. I started out on the Brown's trail at 7:34 am, loved the hike through the forest until reaching the base of Brown's peak. Went up the North West side and arrived on the summit of Brown's Peak at 8:43 am. Enjoyed a good 13 minutes up there and then picked my route for Peak #2 and went for it. Didn't seem like reaching Peak #2 was too difficult as I arrived on the summit at 9:43 am. This time I enjoyed 17 minutes on the summit and knew that getting up Peak #3 would be difficult. I picked my route and started for it. I went down the south east side of Peak #2 and then up the East face of Peak #3. It seemed to take forever just to get down from Peak #2 and then it went slow heading up Peak #3. I ran into some good rock faces which I climbed and then had an almost devastating slip climbing one of the rock faces and fell a good 5 feet before my foot caught into some rocks which prevented me from falling on my head or back? Either one would have been horrible as you can imagine. I pulled myself up and caught my breath and worked my way down. I picked a new route and that was from the North Eastern side and then managed to get to teh summit in a decent time. I arrived on the summit of Peak #3 at 12:05 pm. I spent a good 19 minutes on the summit and knew getting up the fourth and last peak would be hard as well since it was the only one really covered with bushes and trees. I worked my way down #3 and went up the North side of #4 and got through all the bushes with minor scratches and arrived on the summit of Peak #4 at 1:29 pm. I was so thrilled. I took tons of pictures and then had to decide on how to get back down. Luckily I chose the right way going down the North West side and ended up at the mine. Nice outhouse. The Amethyst trail was right there and I followed that back to Brown's trail loosing the trail one time once I got close to Brown's Peak. I was able to find it again after going up some rocks and more bushes. Followed the trail back to where I started and my Jeep never looked so good as I knew I had just pushed myself harder than ever before. Total trip was 8 hours and 48 minutes. I will now always look at the Four Peaks and smile as I know it almost got the best of me but I wouldn't allow it too. However I will never attempt all four solo again. Brown's Peak yes, but all four no way. Not without someone who has been there before. So if anyone wants to go do all four I will go with you. I will be back in the winter time for Brown's Peak to see it with all the snow on it. Can't wait for that. "Never Satisfied"
