| no partners | | Took a drive up to Kingman to do the Hualapai Potato Patch Loop. Another one from the 100 Classic Hike book. Anyway seemed like an awful long way to drive for the 4.4 mile loop hike so I decided to add in the Aspen Peak Summit. Wow was it ever beautiful up there.
Amazing how sitting on top of a mountain can really uplift the spirits and soul in oneself. As I was there I was looking over at Hualapai Peak and decided to go ahead and give it a go as well.
The Hualapai Peak Summit is more difficult to reach than the Aspen Summit. It's doable but requires a bit of scrambling at least from the approach I took. Once on top the views were amazing however I could see the storm brewing off in the distance.
On the way down all I could think about was hitting Hayden Peak also and making it a perfect Trifecta. The better way to do all three would be to hit Hayden before Hualapai as that is how it falls in the loop. I decided to back track and hit it anyway. Upon reaching the top the storm rolled in and started dumping. It was coming down hard but I didn't care. If felt great to have been to the summit of all three while there today.
I would love to go back when the weather is better and do all three again. This time doing, Aspen, then Hayden and finally Hualapai. Great park and very helpful map that they provide upon paying your 5 dollar entrance fee. |
