| partners | | We started at the Gardener Canyon Trailhead and took the Link Trail over to Cave Creek. From there we head up to Florida Saddle and the Crest Trail. We had nice shade and cool breezes all morning. The creek had a lot of Columbines and Monkey Flowers. The trail itself was in pretty good condition considering part of it is in a burn area.
We continued along the Crest Trail to Baldy Saddle. From there we headed up to Mount Wrightson.
After a nice break on top we headed back to the Saddle and jumped up the Super Trail for a short bit. From there we took the Gardner Canyon trail back to the cars. The Gardner Canyon trail had downfall to crawl over(I think even more than our last trip). I was amazed to noticed that the new Ponderosa trees were starting to come back nicely. I don't think I had noticed them too much last time. In death, there is life!
This is a great loop! I'm glad that very few people do the Cave Creek/Gardner Canyon trails because it is awesome to enjoy the trail with just our group! People really don't know what they are missing out on! |
