| no partners | | After yesterdays hike I just had to do Mt. Wrightson. It loomed off in the distance and was on my mind. I stayed the night in Nogales (Arizona) and got an early start today. This time I chose to go at it from a new route. I took Gardner Canyon Road into where the Cave Canyon Trail head is and parked. From there I would begin the arduous hike. The Cave Canyon Trail is awesome and outside a few downed trees is in great shape. I took it up to Florida Saddle where I would pick up the Crest Trail and head towards Mt. Wrightson. The Crest Trail has killer views all along the way. I loved it!
Then it was the final ascent to Summit one of my all time favorite peaks. I was the only one up top and the weather was calm and perfect. On the way down I past 5 others heading up from the western approach. Nick the Frick says Wrightson is the "king of the sky islands". Of the ones I have visited I would tend to agree. It never disappoints! |
