| no partners | | This one is kind of a stretch as a hike, but we did walk around 1.5 miles. I didn't have my GPS to measure, but after so many years of hiking, you can kind of tell.
Nis is a city in southern Serbia where my wife is from. The fortress there has sections that date back to Roman times but the majority of it was built and/or restored by the Turks when they ruled this land. There are some really interesting ruins here.
We went my brother and sister in law and took our kids for a walk through the park that's built right on top of the fortress, which unfortunately isn't secured and maintained as much as something of this kind of historical value would be in the US. So there's alot of garbage, graffiti, etc.
We missed the ideal sunset lighting by about a half hour, but I still got some half decent pics. Before we left the park, we stopped at the local hiking club's bar there and had a few beers. My favorite kind of hike!
I've already scoped out the trailhead for my next hike and I'm anxiously awaiting to do that in the next few days. Still recovering from the jetlag right now. Stay tuned. |
