Lily and I started from Washington Park. The plan was to go up Fred Haught and take it out to Fred Haught Cabin and then continue up canyon and out to some forest roads. Then we were going to head down to Box Canyon and take that back to the Fred Haught Trail.

We made it beyond the cabin and carried on. There's a couple really nice campsites up in there. Unfortunately, the canyon narrows in and there was too much water to continue on dry. I wasn't keen on the idea of getting drenched all day. Maybe later this summer I'll go back when its dryer.

So Lily and I bushwacked straight up to the ridge above us to the west until we hit the forest road. We took the road south. I could have taken roads to the end of Box Canyon and tried to take that back but I figured if it was wet and as boxy as its name leads me to believe, I'd end up having to backtrack and walk down 95 and then doing a stretch on 300.

I decided to take the fork in the road and head back north taking the road that rides the ridge above Box Canyon. Looking at my map, it appeared that I'd be able to find a pretty gentle route to bushwack back down to the Fred Haught Trail at the end of the road. I did find a nice and scenic way back down to the trail. That's a really pretty area.

We headed back down to Washington Park. It turned out to be a pretty fun day and there were lots of elk up around those roads between Fred Haught Canyon and Box Canyon. Water is everywhere up there right now.

Major improvements on the road down to General Springs Cabin. You could get a low-rider down there now.
