| no partners | | I met up with my friend Brian this morning and set off to do this section of the Arizona Trail. We met at 4:30 AM at the gas station at McDowell and the Beeline..
Got to the southern trail head a bit after 7.. uh 29 degrees.
The morning light and the remaining frost made for great views and a fantastic hike.
We got a little cocky as we were ahead of schedule for our set shuttle pick up time and decided to try and find the Battle of Big Dry Wash Monument up near the reservoir.(thats where the extra miles came from) We decided just to wander up East Clear Creek. You cant find it that way I guess. So after wasting 2 hours doing that.
Back on the AZT and the slog up from East Clear across and down into the campground.
Over all a great trail. A bit over marked IMO but cool. Whoever hauled that much rock to line the trail is a maniac. That is just crazy.
First section of the AZT for me and looking forward to more.
Thanks pops for giving up your day to shuttle us back to the car.
I am whooped! Going to have some barley pops then sleep well. |
