Once we got to the Pima Canyon TH, the City of Phoenix was teaming up with some bird sanctuary and doing a presentation of raptors there. They had a great horned owl, a harris hawk, a burrowing owl, and some other bird (forget the name) that is the smallest falcon in North America (about the size of a robin). The kids also got Junior Park Ranger badges/stickers from the park ranger.
After that, we proceeded to the Marcos de Niza rock and headed back to the car. There is a map posted by the Pima Canyon TH that shows what looks to be some new trails in that area. Might be some potential to do an early morning local hike this winter as an alternative to jogging. |
