| no partners | | I did not know about Turkey Creek, until Friday. While on a construction site in Black Canyon City, I was talking to the home owner, and she gave me some history about the creek, which was in her back yard....literally! I arrived around 0730 and it was cool (in the low 40's) and cloudy, with a light mist....perfet
I entered off the old Black Canyon Hwy, north of Maggie Mine road. My parking spot was in a quasi private area, Okay per my new contact, but there was not a marked access to the creek. After a few moments of looking around, I chose a route and the bush whacking ensued. The creek had a lot of flowing water, for as, it is being supplied from the Bradshaw Mountains and still flowing from the recent rains. There was some cool geological areas, with a lot of quartz and some areas with feldspar, which is a type of metamorphic rock, especially if in the veins of rock.
I eventually came to an area that was inaccessible, due to the high water level, so I decided that was a great turn around point. This was a great find, and I hope to hike further up the creek, next time, perhaps all the way to Bumble Bee. |
