cactuscat was in town, so kelly and jess were planning to hike flatiron and 5024 today
got off work a little early and took off from mining camp restaurant at 10:00
caught the girls just above the bowl, then relaxed and enjoyed a nice climb from there
found a sheltered spot on flatiron to take a break and some pictures
went over to look at the crash site, but didn't spend much time there
made our way up to 5024 and had a longer break up there, checking out the views and exploring a bit
used navig8r's track on the way up, but the route is cairned and well traveled
headed back down, stopping in the bowl for a few minutes to enjoy the sun and the waterfall
cool in shade or wind, but otherwise a perfect day for this
some snow on the north facing slopes
saw just a few poppies on the lower western slopes
great to hike with kelly and jess again on this classic
thanks for a fun day, you two!
oh, and thanks for lunch jess - i had forgotten about that super bowl bet :)
