Things didn't turn out as planned. Drove up the road and off at Board Saddle to be greeted by heavy smoke laying low in the Cherry Creek drainage from the Poco Fire. It was lifting some with the heating of the sun.
We decided to hike Ash Creek ( how many friggin ash creeks are in Az anyway!), looking at it as a companion hike sometime for PB. Not now, too hot. We drove the steep road down to where it crossed just below a spring and old mine area. We took a second road but it proved a little too much of a bushwack for the vehicle so we parked in the shade and took off. Initially there was some surface water and the big sycamores, grapevines, poison ivy etc. The water went away and never returned. The canyon is sort of pretty with some big walls on down and a pour off easily bypassed or could be slid down direct. There was one section that was somewhat narrow with low walls and nice sycamores neatly arranged on either canyon side. It was also sandier and less rock hopping. We had a nasty surprise at Cherry Creek, the huge corridor was dry. It was getting hot and we got some cloud cover as it built but soon the sun was back out. We took our time going back and shaded up a lot to keep Charlie from over heating.
We stopped by PB cabin so I could photograph some history written up on the area; last time had no space on my card. I will post the history on the PB triplog.

It was too hot to go on down lower to get into Cherry Creek more so went up and walked down Reynolds Creek aways stopping before things weren't going to get easy to bypass. Lots of butterflies and Dragon flies and I got some pictures and got wet cooling off. Pretty area. Not a lot of people about, camping or whatever, not sure if the fire, heat or what was keeping them away. Got some cloud build up but no rain where we were.
