| no partners | | I car camped overnight at the side of a 4WD road on top of the south rim of Bull Canyon. Had a fine evening enjoying the views as the sun set. Next morning I got up just as the sun was breaking over the horizon and after breakfast decided to meander along the rim overlooking the canyon below. Deep Creek flows down the bottom of this canyon - don't know why it wasn't called Deep Creek Canyon. After meeting some canyoneering folks headed to this canyon two days later I did some searching on HAZ. Turns out it's a popular place for some of these folks but they call it Waterslide Canyon. Do a HAZ search on this name and take a look at some of their pics and a video - totally amazing!
There were great views along the canyon rim and earlier in the morning the light turned Zimmerman Point to the west a dark shade of red. I never did find a location where I could see into the deep recesses of this canyon where the water slides are located - I don't like getting too close to the edges of crumbly cliffs. I enjoyed lunch sitting on a rock bench on a high cliff overlooking the mouth of Bull Canyon where it dumps into Cherry Creek Canyon then headed back to the car. |
