Sooo, JJ needed Shuttle Help with an overnight Camp at Aravaipa...Hmmm, had to think about that one for about .0001 seconds...Okay!

He wanted to get an early start on an extremely difficult first day, so we left almost before Wednesday even got started and got to his drop off point at 4:45 A.M. Needless to say, I went sleepless and was feeling it by the time I wished him well. I drove on for about another 4 or so miles and decided that if I wanted to really enjoy my Hike into Aravaipa, I needed to get just a tad bit of shuteye, so I took a 3 hour break on the side of Klondyke Road. Feeling much better, I finished the drive in to the "Unofficial TH" at Turkey Creek, after signing us in... :)

Within 30 minutes of my arrival at Turkey Creek, the show began... :D One very cocky, self absorbed, vivacious male Red Cardinal became absolutely enamored with the spotless windows on JJ's Jeep... By the time the show was finally over, I was almost on the ground I was laughing so hard. It started on the passenger side. He would fly away occasionally and come back. (I have video... :D ) At one point, he flew to the Driver's side mirror and it occurred to me that I had left the Driver's side window open, and yep, he jumped in the Jeep and was running back and forth along JJ's Dashboard... :y: I tried to move around to get that on Video, but it spooked him and after he bounced off the Passenger Window, he flew back out... It was amAZing and hilarious and it was a great start to this Trip. I messed around taking more pictures before I started my Hike into Aravaipa Canyon...(Separate Triplog and Photoset).

After my Hike, I got my Camp set up and went back to the Official TH to wait for JJ. While I was waiting I was treated to a really nice Sunset, so I took some more Photos. After 7:00, JJ still wasn't at the TH so I drove down the road, hoping that he had at least made it onto Aravaipa Road. About 2 miles from the TH, I spotted him...Whew! It was a relief to know that he hadn't had enough problems with the Hike to keep him out there... Awesome Job John!!! : app : :worthy: Since he wasn't quite done, I drove back to the TH and he showed up pretty quickly after that...We drove back to the Campsite and chilled for awhile before finally flaking out... :)

The next morning, the Cardinal showed back up, but the Jeep was parked in a different spot and JJ was still asleep in the back. Apparently the Cardinal didn't care for the reflections staring back at him through the Window this morning and decided to bail... :o

We actually "slept in" and then I drove JJ back to the Official TH so he could start the next segment through Aravaipa Canyon. I started the drive out and ran into some Nature Conservancy workers on the side of the road, so I stopped to ask them a couple of questions. While we were talking, the foreman of the Crew pointed to the road just behind where I had pulled over and parked the Jeep. Yep, it was a Snake. The Foreman thought it was a Gopher Snake, but it didn't look like it so I moved closer and yep, it was a Black-tailed Rattlesnake and no lie folks, it was headed for the underside of JJ's Jeep... :o Really??? I was sincerely hoping that it would not become as "enamored" with the Jeep as the Cardinal had been...Just in case, I decided to head it off at the pass... :sl: I got it turned around and it headed into a bush on the side of the road, where it coiled up and hissed it's displeasure... :D After a few pics, I headed on down the road, stopping occasionally to take a pic or two on the way out.

Got to the other end of Aravaipa about 4 minutes before JJ showed up... We drove out and JJ treated to Los Hermanos in Superior and then we hit the road for home... :)

I have hereby dubbed JJ's Jeep the Faunamobile...I'm not sure how good of a Hot Chick Magnet it is, but I can guarantee it's got the Fauna out there "flocking" to it... :sl: The thought actually occurred to me (just for second :D ), "screw the Hiking, I'm just gonna become John's full-time Shuttle Driver"... :sl: Ok, not, I love Hiking too much, but I'll certainly continue to help him with the Shuttles when I can. It seems like there's never a dull moment on these Trips...

What a Trip, literally! :D Between the Fauna, the Canyon, and JJ's amazing abilities as a Hiker, it was an awesome 2 days!!! Thanks for the entire experience John, it was amAZing!!! : app : : app : : app :

This Video didn't turn out well quality wise, I was too zoomed in so it didn't get a chance to focus, but you'll get the "picture". The content was just too good not to share.... :D
