Tis the Season.... :y:

A really nice Yeti I know, posted this Hike a little while ago and I was wondering why I hadn't done it yet... :-k It's been on my list for well over a year and it was way overdue...I didn't think Kelly had done a Water Hike yet this year, so I got in touch with her and the plans were set...

Got up there and started the Hike around 10:00...Already warm, but we knew that wasn't going to be a problem for long...Was hoping that doing it on a Monday would give us a little solitude, but it wasn't to be...Two cars with people piling out from all sides was already in the Parking Lot when we got there...School's Out...

Steep, but no sweat descent and the Joys of Hiking next to a cool Creek commenced...Took a couple small detours to catch better glimpses of the Creek and before we knew it, we were at the Big Ledges with a Pristine Swimming Hole... :D Unfortunately, the two cars full of people (and dogs) were already "established" and it was pretty noisy. Didn't really understand why the one Water Retriever in the Dog Pack was the only one that wasn't being allowed to go Swimming...And that Dog was letting everyone know just how wrong that was.... :|

Kelly and I enjoyed the Ledges for a few minutes, but opted to keep going, before our first swim, to try and find something less chaotic... We were hoping that the masses would be gone by the time we came back through...Judging from the rest of the Hike, I suspect that 90% of the people that come in here, stop at that First Pool...We didn't see another soul until we got back to that spot a few hours later... :D

We found another nice spot about a mile further down and by then, it was really time to go in...It was pretty warm in the bottom of that Canyon...The Water was Perfect!!!! We spent some time there and then pressed on...We decided that we really wanted to do the whole Hike and see it all, so we did... :) We only swam once on the way out, but made mental notes of a couple of areas where we wanted to swim on the return....

Very Sweet areas on this Hike...Have I mentioned that I love Water??? :D Since we hit a majority of this Hike at the Peak of the Day, the Lighting for Photography was pretty vicious unfortunately...It was even bad for my Fauna shots...I made an attempt to practice some Photography on the thousands of Dragonflies in the area, and the bright Sun was even blowing those shots to pieces, so it made getting those little guys even harder...It was ok though, I know that this is going to end up being a repeat Hike for me, so I can "time" better Lighting next time... :) This Trip was about seeing it and Swimming!!!

Got to the 6th Crossing and called it good...Started back the way we came, stopping once just to cool off in the Water...Then we got to some small Ledges with Deep Water and decided to really enjoy this area...I got some hair brained idea of doing a Back Flip off one of the Ledges...It's been awhile, but Back Flips are fairly easy, and I knew I would have plenty of Airtime, so I went for it... :D It went so well, that I decided that maybe I had enough "Airtime" to try a Front Flip...Much harder...I almost chickened out, but I figured in another 10 years I probably wouldn't be able to do one at all, and the risks of dying or being seriously injured were pretty minimal with this attempt...I did cheat though, I took a running start... All I can say is, the form wasn't pretty, but hey, I made the Rotation, and didn't do a Face Flop, so I'll take it!!!

After laughing and cooling off a bit more, we continued on, finding one of the Springs and then arriving back at the Big Ledges...There were a few kids here, but they were nice and the other group was gone, so Kelly opted for more Jumping, while I just swam out and enjoyed...The Lighting was getting better, so I took a few more pictures...

And then it was time to head back to the TH...On the way, we found the other Spring and then headed on up the Hill to the Escape...The Climb out is cheese, compared to the other ones I've done lately. That, and the "Highway" condition of this Trail makes it totally understandable why this is such a popular Hangout for the locals...Although, a few of them still don't get it...We ran into a couple on the way in that really made us shake our heads...Older, pretty unfit woman in Flip Flops with an old, overweight Dog that looked pretty hot...A couple of hundred feet later, we ran into what I assume was the husband...He was resting in the shade on a step, trying to keep an eye on the approximately 3 year old girl that was bringing up the rear...This guy hauled what looked like a 35 to 40 pound Ice Chest down there...Didn't look like he was having too much fun coming back out... He said he was "misinformed" about the Trail.... [-( Never ceases to amaze... :|

Got back to the Escape and Ice Cold Drinks before the Ride Home...Very Cool Area...Will definitely be returning... :D Thanks for joining me Kelly, it was a great choice, and a ton of fun!!! : app :

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"
