| no partners | | Sure enough, when I returned to the campground around 6 PM Sunday the crowds of weekenders had cleared out. Yay! Outside of the campground hosts the only others there were a guy with 2 mules and a large group of backpackers in the far corner. They were no doubt doing the nearby PCT and decided to spend the night in camp. The Pacific Crest Trail passes the campground along the side of a hill less than a mile east of the campground. I noted a few headlamps up there after dark. I really like some of the older campgrounds, especially those situated in places with large trees for shade. This is such a campground. It also has a water system and amazingly there are water spigots at nearly all the sites! One thing I found curious is that almost all sites had full plastic water jugs or bottles available. I guess that might be for use by the PCT hikers, but don't know. Another plus for this campground is the perennial stream running through. I selected a site near the creek with a tent spot a little down the bank from the table. It was absolutely perfect, being able to listen to the sound of running water from the tent! Another thing I liked about this campground is the sites aren't jammed real close together. Yep, I'd say this one is a winner! |
