Six of us met at 6am and piled our stuff into the Mazzymobile. There were enough supplies to last us a week; beer supplies probably would have been gone first though. On the ride up someone tried to push Richard out of our lane. Only problem was we were in the right lane :roll:

. The conversation was fun and I may have told a Joe story or two. Preston would be there so I spoke of the 2010 Nice off.

I got a text from Preston who was running late and would meet us later on Davis and also Paul who was picking up Ernie the Birthday boy and who is Virginia's brother. We saw them briefly as we were heading off of Union. Ernie turned 50 today but they would miss the Davis turn so we wouldn't be able to later enjoy a birthday beer with him. It was nice meeting Paul and Ernie and Virginia.

Back to the beginning, we started about 8am and Denny posed for pics at the mine about .5 miles in. This is where we started the off-trail which went well really well except for one tiney tiny hickup. I talked about the naming of the peaks. I may have thrown words like precambrian granite, gneiss and other schist. This is the major geology of The Bradshaws. Later, I would notice an outcropping from the columbia era with de-gassed magma and traces of balsamic. De-gassed magma bubbles tend to make the rock less dense and therefore they rise and then decompress. I learned that from Lougle.

A couple of groups went to meet the fire tower guy while Denny and I chilled. Denny is allergic to incense and could smell that the guy was burning it. After some rest and summit beer and snacks, we decided to head to Davis we crossed paths with Prescottstyle and birthday boy and the girl named after a southern state. It would be the last time we would see each other this day. I hope to hike with Paul in the future.

I took an off-trail route up Davis and then over to a precambrian outcropping that is named after a body part which can be either male or female. The views from here are outstanding and Preston quizzed us about the surrounding area. This was after I got a text from Preston who said he could see me but I couldn't see him and he's a 10ft tall Yeti.

More snacks... more beer watching for me and I was getting hungry and thirsty. I took a shortcut down and got to the truck and moved it not knowing a hematite was hanging on the bumper. I later found it and shared my vast knowledge about this rock which comes from the Greek word haimatites. When I started throwing out words like Corundum, Eskimo, and Karelianite, I noticed Richard was sleeping and everyone else started chugging their beers while Preston listened intently while sipping his Diet Pepsi.

It was a fun day meeting new people and catching up with others I met previously. The weather was horrible as I don't think it ever was above 70 degrees. Thanks to everyone who made it out to this horrible place just off of Poachers Road.

I visited with Grace and The real Denny on Friday and Grace is recovering well and joked about me being a day late. I also met fufu for the first time. Fufu weighs about as much as Bruno's left leg. Anyone who read this far please send good thoughts for Grace's speedy recovery.
