| Nice easy hike up Mt Union but Bob found a more creative way for Flat Denny and crew to make it up off trail. A few brushy spots on the slopes but once we made it up on the ridgeline below Mt Union there were great views in all directions. Another 15 mins on the ridgeline and we made the top to find the tower open with the attendant letting us come up for a better view. According to him someone is in the tower from about late April to around mid-September.
After some snacks and pics we headed over to Mt Davis along the way running into Prescottsyle who was heading to Mt Union with two others. Just before Mt Davis we also ran into Preston who had been running late and said he would meet us on Davis. After linking up with Preston we continued onto Mt Davis and a nice rock outcrop where we enjoyed beer/snack break. Great spot to chill and Preston shared some of his hiking knowledge around Prescott and some of the view point highlights.
Going down some took the trail while a few others decided to follow Flat Denny and Bob off trail back to the cars. Off trail going down was better than up with less brush and it takes about 1/2 mile off the hike. Once back at the car Bob was already getting the grill ready for post hike hot dogs and beer. Nice way to finish a hike with some good conversation, hot dogs, beer, and cheesy puffs  Thanks Bob for putting the event together  |
