| no partners | | When I got to the Peeley TH, there were a couple guys there and I knew from their corporate sticker on the vehicle that we had some things in common. The dad told me some stories about the area from the 60's and I enjoyed their company as I got ready. I packed up and headed out about 8am which was a little later and warmer than I wanted. I wore my headphones for awhile until I started startling myself quite often.
Once I hit the shade of the trees, it was pleasant until I got to the saddle. I set up the scope and scoped for several hours ocassionally getting up to walk around or to eat or drink something. A few times, I saw some anomalies and wished I had a 2nd pair off eyes with me. One time I spent about 45 minutes going back and forth between lenses and refocusing and marking landmarks and taking measurements. But in the end, nothing I saw made me think I should have gone and taken a hike over to investigate. Whats wierd is that I felt I covered more ground today painstakingly scoping; then my 25 plus searches on the ground.
I was able to pick up 6 inch ribbon which was between a half mile and 3/4 of a mile away... knowing I was about mile away from Sheep. I wish I thought about the scope earlier as its a great tool to use as the increasing heat starts to make searching harder. I plan on heading back this weekend with a comfy chair and maybe a few beverages. And hopefully another set of eyes. |
