They were clearing the trail north of Horse Camp Seep. We chatted with them for a bit. They were schedule to work through Wednesday. At the rate they were going, they might have time start fixing the Willow Springs Trail.
We took an extra extended lunch at the Horse Camp Seep so Fan could filter water and cool off. The warm temp got to Fan. We headed back and took the Barnhardt down. We a 10 inch Millipede close to the TH.
It was cool seeing all the new green growth on the mountains. The forest is coming back.
Trail conditions:
Y-Bar: Very open! No dead-fall at all! I was prepared for tree hopping, but it was clean!
Mazatzal Divide from Y-Bar to Barnhardt: No dead-fall, but the plants (some thorny ones) are starting to close in.
Mazatzal Divide from Barnhardt to Horse Camp seep: Not much change from last year. Mostly open, no dead-fall
Mazatzal Divide from Horse Camp Seep to Willow Springs (assuming crew finishes) : Two lane road! The sea of dead-fall is cleaned up! The washed out drainage with the 3 foot drop has been smoothed out! The C.R.E.C. has done a great job!
Barnhart trail: We were surprised to see about 7 ~ 8 fallen trees on the trail. Some were quite big. |
