In the cave seen from Hopi Point tucked away in a nice stinky Condor nest is a one month old chick, a female I think...next time you're up point some binocs east of Hopi Pt and check out the family down there.
We got buzzed by two massive Condors out on Hopi (and a third during the fossil program) absolutely beautiful...well, at least magnificent, birds!
Robb headed off to do ranger stuff, Joe and I gathered our gear and hit the local climbing wall. First time I'd ever rappelled outdoors, we figured 165 feet was a good starting rappel....right?! Yeah! It was a blast, rappelled three times, the pics I got on my camera from the rope were blah... next time!
Then we hooked up to the actual climbing wall, rappelled down from the S. Rim Trail and enjoyed the "easy climbs" before we realized how quick the sun was going down. We raced to the general store and celebrate my first rappel with ice cream and chill time with my entire courtyard of neighbors, crazy kids!!!!
Wild day, awesome views, loved floating in the air and playing on the rocks all day! |
