| no partners | | General Store camping department needed a pick me up so I dragged my two favorite coworkers, Mister Paul and Miss Erin, out to an old Butchart Favorite.
"one of the best displays of Grand Canyon pictographs" he says of this.
It is in fact a class 3 archeological site, which means no one is supposed to know about it, but pretty much anyone with an eye for pictographs can google it on the interwebs. Well, at least if they know what to look for!
Anywho, easy trot down from the rim...easy being a relative term! It was 300 yards of bushwhacking madness on a steep soily slope with only limestone or air to choose from should you slip or lose your balance
But overall, pretty easy.
Once you figure out where the Panel of Rockart is your breath is taken away. The panel extends for several yards all along a large overhang.
Absolutely stunning art all around! Red paint with dots and animals and what looks like a harvesting area painted on at one point and another (Butchart suggested) might be a detailed "map" of a "local route down into the canyon" which makes PERFECT sense when you look at it!!
Anyway...pictures anyone? |
