| no partners | | I was invited to stay a night with the trail crew in their Phantom bunkhouse...so as soon as I got home from Las Vegas I geared up and headed down.
I opted for BA due to the crazy rainstorm.
Made it down to PR in under 4 hours, ran down to IG to avoid the rain...running from rain doesn't work FYI.
Sunset on Devils Corkscrew, dinner, drinks and my own couch/bed in the bunkhouse. I could see the stars from my bed...
Woke up to the NPS mule driver guys, I shared my breakfast of apples with the lead mule, Skinny, sent off a postcard, had some lemonade at the canteen, took a very muddy bath in Bright Angel Creek, said my thanks to the crew, was given otter pops and headed up trail.
Beautiful day, sun and clouds played hide n seek, very humid.
The CC and NPS trail crews were working hard on restoring the trail after the flood... lots of damage. Especially below the corkscrew and up at IG. Such is life in the canyon.
Enjoyed my little solo hike, saw lots of critters as usual and some crazy rainbows last night.
...Trail crew boss dubbed me VIP, gee guess I'll have to visit more often...I have a rough life up here. |
