Parked at 55th Ave and Pinnacle Peak and headed west, noticing after about a mile that my pants were falling down. Upon closer inspection I noticed the sewn loop on the buckle had disintegrated, so, being the Boy Scout that I am (actually I only made it to Webelos before conformity issues made it intolerable), I got out my needle and thread that had been in my first aid kit for decades and fixed it.
Proceeding on, I reached the main park entrance where I checked out the new rotisserie before jumping on the western leg. Took a side trip to the Sunrise Trail ramadas, where I snacked in the shade before heading back.
I probably ran across 50 people on this early morning hike, and I was amazed at how often they had a particular scent. Coconut sunscreen, Aloe Vera lotion, Irish Mist soap, various perfumes, even spices from I'm guessing the diets of Hispanic and Indian people. Each and every one different from the last. I've done so much offtrail/solo hiking I guess it never was an issue. It was too early in the day for any B.O., so it wasn't unpleasant at all, just another reminder of the endless variety of humanity. |
