| After Kingsnake and I were unable to locate the elusive Dana's Arch, we met up at the lower trailhead and shuttled the HAZ group up to the upper trailhead (three Toyota Tacomas, each from a different decade - made me proud). On the way up we passed rlrjamy and Flat Denny, and I knew this was going to be a fun day.
The trail was short and steep to the saddle, the remainder being a v-notch to the summit. The notch was mostly solid rock 3/4 of the way up. Near the top it got steeper (maybe 70 degrees) and had some potential loose stuff, but at that point a bypass leads to the right (east) and makes the final stretch much easier. There is a nice alcove that would shelter 10 hikers just below the summit on the east side.
Outdoor Lover lugged up two bottles of Champagne, one of Sparkling cider, and homemade cookies that we made quick work of. Next year I suspect she will have help. Fireworks and stealth bombers followed. A good time was had by all. |
