I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this event. It was much more about having fun than about competing with others, which suits my attitude toward running. Every so often along the course, you are showered with cornstarch-based powdered dye of various colors. By the finish line, most people looked like smurfs from the blue dye. I went for the green and ended looking like the Hulk or Oscar the Grouch (see photo  ).
My niece ran and timed herself, while my sister and I walked (occasionally jogging) with my mom so she wouldn't quit on us.  |
