| no partners | | It was supposed to be the first day of 100+ temps for the year in the Vegas valley, so Mt Charleston was calling. The parking lot was full when I arrived, which seemed like a bad sign. As it turned out, such a late start resulted in seeing very few hikers on trail, other than a few headed down on the way up. Didn't expect the snow  , even though I could see it from the highway. At the top, it was windy as always and ~75F - a welcome change from temps in the valley. Good day, although my pace was very slow since this was my first hike of the year at elevation.
A few patches of snow on the trail - easily crossed, although likely would be icy early in the day. A few rock slides across the trail, but also easily crossed. |
