Decided to spend some more time exploring Pinto Valley from the opposite end as I had earlier this week. Just looked at a map enough to know there was a spring, and made that my general goal for the day - the main plan was really just to wander.

The hike paid off by finding several things I expected - wildly colorful rock and soil, gypsum-loving plant species, fresh horse and bighorn tracks, solitude. Along with several things I didn't expect - a desert tortoise, very nice petroglyphs, fresh mountain lion tracks following the bighorn tracks, a lot of cowboy camps near the spring.

Although I didn't take time to explore everything that caught my interest, this was a great day outside.

	Not much flow through the main pool, but pool was almost full (~2-3 gal). Water quickly filled a shallow hole I scraped in the sand. Would not want to rely on this spring without water purification - literally piles of scat everywhere.
