| no partners | | Another wander-o-rama. This day I was looking to recreate a photo I had seen. Well, I failed at that, but had other adventures instead. Also, got a really solid idea of the photo location for next time 
As I hiked in one of the tight, winding gypsum washes/canyons on the way to Pinto Valley there was a loud sound that I couldn't quite place. Loud but hollow-sounding, repeated at an irregular interval. Paused a few times, but just couldn't figure out what that sound was. Until I rounded the bend, and saw... a group of 8 bighorn rams, with 2 butting heads. Ah ha - the source of the sound!!! Because of the wind direction, they hadn't heard or smelled me coming, so it took a second or two for them to process the situation. Unfortunately, it also took me a second or two to understand what was going on, so no good pictures 
Most of them ran quickly up the slope, but two turned and faced me down, with one actually moving toward me. There was that moment of thinking "what if...  " but after a few seconds they turned and joined the others. After watching them disappear up the ridges, I continued on with my heart still pounding loud in my ears. Wow, just wow!
Later, I came across a very complete bighorn skull and much of the skeleton in a different wash, so it seems like the day came full-circle in a way.
