Slept in a bit after my Trip the day before...Staying in a Tent Site at the Ponderosa Ranch Resort where the Rendezvous is taking place. It was very inexpensive and you basically have all of the Resort's amenities to take advantage of, including Hot Showers....  Didn't have a lot of time for Hiking today, as I had to be back around 2:00 P.M. for a small Basic Skills Workshop.
So I drove into Zion National Park for a "get acquainted" Tour. Did the Touristy thing of stopping at some of the side road Parking to get some Photos. Really busy today with people. Spent about an hour at the Visitor's Center looking around, getting a better Map and taking care of some Permit Business. And then it was time to start heading back...It takes almost 45 minutes to drive through the Park, with the Tunnel delays, and to get back to the Resort. It really is a beautiful Park and was looking forward to more intimate looks at it on Foot and by Rope....
Got back to the Resort and did the Workshop...Worked on Knots, Anchors and Friction/Tying Off while descending...Then we all practiced Rappelling off the Climbing Wall there at the Resort.
After the Workshop, jumped back in the Escape, drove through the Park again to Springdale to see the Film "Gorging" at the IMAX Theatre. Talked to Brian briefly after it was over and then went back to Camp to get ready to the next day.... |
