| partners | | First time doing any Hiking in the Flagstaff area other than Slate Mountain...Was a little "Peaked out" from the Pinalenos, so I decided on this Hike...It's been on my Wish List for a long time...Larry decided to join me even after I warned him that my Pace would be exceptionally slow...New Trail, Elevation, Birding, Photography, etc...yep, only 5 miles and I was still going to make a day of it. And we did... Larry had the brilliant idea of making this a Shuttle, which I was all for, as I'm not a big Fan of "out and backs". As it turns out, on this Trail I wouldn't have minded so much, it was that nice... (Although, I think I would start from Friedlen Prairie, )
We got an early start, but by the time we set up the Shuttle and really got started, it was no longer that early...Took a lot of pictures, but was disappointed with the Lighting early on...The Shadows were very dark and the Sun breaking through was pretty Bright...My Camera and I had a hard time with that...
Larry was very patient when I got onto Birds...I even made a couple of extended stops, hoping they would come in so I could get some shots...Missed a few good ones unfortunately, but did get a Hawk and a very loud contingent of Clark's Nutcrackers...The Hawk was at least an 1/8 of a Mile away...It's Grainy since I had to use all of my Zoom, but he was pretty cool, so I'm posting it...
Probably due to our early start, we only saw 2 people all day....
What a Great Trail...The Ecological Differences were very Cool!!! One minute you would be surrounded by Aspen, the next, out onto huge Meadows with Evergreens and Views...And in-between, Dark, Forested areas with Rock Outcroppings...Thoroughly enjoyed this Hike and the Company as well...Thanks for joining me Larry!!!! |
