| no partners | | Went Birding this morning at Tres Rios...Decided that I needed to also get a decent Hike in, so I hit this on the way home...Did 3 Trails new to me, and a section of National that I've never done either...Up Ranger, West on National to Goat Hill, back on National to Kiwanis, then hit Los Lomitas back to Ranger and then to the Escape....I know Kelly would never let me hear the end of it, if I got this close to Goat Hill and didn't go see it... But I have to hand it to Kelly, the Views are Stellar from there!!!
I wonder if Todd actually ran into Flying Ants on Maricopa Peak, instead of Flies...10 feet from the top and it was a Giant Flying Ant Hill..Luckily, probably due to the Weather, most of them weren't flying... And that wasn't the only Fauna that was overpopulating...I felt like I was playing Hopscotch on the whole Hike, trying to avoid stepping on hundreds of Millipedes! Wow!
Watched an awesome Storm north of Downtown, and then saw it start sweeping around to the West, covering the Estrellas...And then it started coming my way...It caught me just as I reached Kiwanis...I wouldn't have cared about getting Wet, but donned the cheapie Poncho anyway, to keep the Camera dry.... It poured for about 15 minutes and then let up...It felt Great!!! Then the Sun came out, and it became a slight Steambath for the rest of the Trip... But it felt good to be back on South Mountain again!!!! The Mountain's looking pretty good with all of the Rain...Looking forward to doing it more often now.... |
