| partners | | This was day hike two of three for me during this, my planned late September'13 seven day vehicle camping trip to our Mogollon Rim on the prowl for early
Today's Loop Hike Route: This loop hike begins at the recommended FR398 "Park/TH Start" location, then continued on an easy through-the-woods off trail route (follow my posted 9/29/13 GPS Route) to enter West Bear Canyon (Upper) drainage. Hike continues down West Bear Canyon drainage to a recommended and listed way point exit location for the necessary off trail and up hill segment to connect with lower FR398. This loop hike then continues up FR398 back to Park/TH Start. One may also continue past this above mentioned and listed way point exit location to complete the hike description 5.0 mile loop (which will include the segment of Upper Bear Canyon) as published per the "official" GPS Route.
During this same September hike day last year-2012, this West Bear Canyon was absolutely ablaze in prime Autumn "Big Tooth Maple" colors.. http://hikearizona.com/photoset=21838 . I had planned this years' Sept Camping/Hiking trip to coincide with another hopeful prime Autumn showing.. but we were about 7-10 days too early..what a difference a year makes.. but still a winner in my books!! |
