3 Day Camping Trip in search of Fall Colors. See Foliage Report for Details. Met a Friend of mine and we checked out several locations including Washington Park, Bear Canyon, an area off FR 208 and part of See Canyon on Day 1. Also called in a Forest Fire starting below the Rim. Turned out to be a structure Fire near Haigler Creek and it was extinguished in short order as the smoke disappeared rather quickly. I was impressed as it looked like it could turn into a torcher pretty quick.

Day 2 had us hiking into See Spring only to be disappointed there. So we headed for Workman Creek. Color was better there, but still not what we hoped for.

Day 3 had us dinking around Workman some more, and then I started the trip home. Stopping in to visit my Aunt in Tonto Basin and staying around Roosevelt Lake in hopes of a Sunset. And by the way, for those interested, Big Daddy's Pizza is still open. Last time through there, they had it up for Sale over a year ago.

Decent Trip, but Fall is very irregular and unpredictable. Prime in a few spots, but not Prime just 1/2 mile away or 100 feet away. Storm Damage was evident in many places and killed Autumn in several places for good. My Friend stated that it had hailed on the Rim during the storm and it showed.

Photos soon.

Autumn Foliage Observation Moderate
Washington Park: Color at the first bridge had you celebrating, but it wasn't to be. Green as can be from there on up.
Bear Canyon Upper - West Bear: Done. Leaves on Trees are completely gone.
Top of the Rim is done. Nothing left to see unless you find a remote, protected pocket.
See Canyon: Prime at the Trailhead. Prime along lower Christopher Creek in places.
See Canyon Spring: Summer Green prevails with just a few changing here and there.
Workman Creek: Slopes are Prime. Aspens are Prime. Sycamores and Oaks looking good as well. Most Maples at the Water are still green. Creek is very low, Falls are trickling.
