A friend from Tucson and I had planned to do a one night backpack to Mt Wrightson but with the government shutdown our plans went to the wayside. Our plan B became doing the short hike to the Romero canyon pools on saturday afternoon. We arrived to the pools just before sunset and found a cool flat spot in which we set up the tent. We were the only people in the area this particular night which unknowingly turned out to be a great night for the Draconid meteor shower (though not the peak night) we took out the Thermarests and star gazed for a couple hours probably seeing at least some 30 very bright shooting stars before hitting the inflatable pillow and calling it a night. Star gazing and falling asleep with the sound of the water nearby was all the more relaxing and despite our original plan being scrapped by the honorable people in DC we had a great time out in the woods!
