| no partners | | It was time for another Inner Basin to Humphreys Peak hike. Ive had this thing about camping at Lockett Meadown for a while and thought this would be a great time to do so. All the aspens in the Inner Basin are starting to turn yellow and for any fall photography fanatics i would forecast some great foliage colors in two weeks. Hiking in the Inner Basin offers some great options for many hikers. We decided to make the push for Humphreys Peak, it was a cloudless morning but it quickly turned into heavy winds and very fast moving clouds just above the tree line. The push for the summit was met with some 40+ MPH winds. We mainly hid behind the wind rock walls on the summit and maybe stayed there for 10 minutes before making our way back down. Once below the tree line the wind died down again. We camped at the Lockett Meadow campground and experiencing these intense wind gusts coming down the mountain was something to behold. Glad my tent faced these heavy winds with flying colors!! This summit route is one of my favorite hikes in Arizona. |
