| no partners | | | First time canyoneering in the Superstitions and it was a great time! Trailhead parking was right off the street. On the way up one follows a faint trail up the side of the mountain, after the mesa is reached keep going NNE towards the real summit, you will go up the first mesa over a second one a bit higher in elevation make a northward traverse then make your way back down at which place you will reach several drainages....keep heading north as that will take you into the north fork, from then on just follow the canyon until you reach the first wrap, the anchor point is a bit hard to find as its on the big boulder about 8 feet away from the edge. This route adds two rappels from Sierra Canyon, the rest of the way it has three more easy rappels with the last one being about 600 feet away from the exit back onto Fish Creek. We then proceeded to head back up the stream for a leasurly 1.4 mile hike back to the car. The foliage still left on Fish Creek was incredible, the creek had plenty of flowing water. |
