We did Pine Mtn last year and was surprised at the amount of fall color so decided to make it happen again this year. It was even better this year being a week later and just about peak. By far the best sections for foliage is the Nelson Spring and Willow Springs trails on the northwest side of the mountain. The pace was pretty slow making our way up to the Pine Mtn summit with lots of picture taking.

Eventually we made it to the summit and the views from the top are pretty awesome. You have really good views of the Verde Valley looking east, the Mogollon rim to the north, and Supes (even Weaver's Needle) to the south.

After finishing lunch on top we headed down Verde Rim trail to the Pine Mtn trail and back to Nelson Spring trail closing the loop. Again we enjoyed the foliage on Nelson Spring trail as the afternoon light gave the canyon a totally different look

Nice to hike with and meet Mike for the first time and hike with Angela again!
