| partners | | Great weather for the summit of Humphrey's Peak considering the regularity of wind, rain, etc on top. We did the hike with a MeetUp group and enjoyed the temps with almost no wind so we spent about 45 mins on top enjoying the view. The trail was somewhat crowded with the usual assortment of unprepared people....ran into a girl near the summit wearing flip flops held together with duck tape and blood running down her leg. Amazing she made the summit and still had a smile on her face...crazy! Despite that we ran into and hiked with some really nice people that made it seem not so crowded.
On the way down we decided to check out the B24 Crash site for an extra challenge. Getting over to the site is basically half mile off trail with a faint route and requires negotiating some boulder fields. The crash site is on fairly steep slope in the middle of a large boulder field. Definitely worth the side trip and interesting to see all the wreckage. Fun hike...we really lucked out on the weather  |
