| partners | | | Pro: Our lead climber placed two trad pieces in addition to using the bolt. | We talked our friends who did this climb while we were off doing other adventures to do it again. Boy was it worth it!
We did the climb in one long pitch even though Mountain Project noted it was a two pitch climb. It was rated as 5.8 but I didn't think it was that tough of a climb since I was able to do it with my gimp shoulder on toprope.
The Mountain Project Description says, "Parties who successfully summit will be either highly rewarded or permanently traumatized. The exposure atop Finger Rock is extreme. The teetering flake that caps the pinnacle adds to the excitement."
I'm not permanently traumatized so I guess I'm becoming somewhat immune to exposure. Being on the top of a rock that I've stared at for years was pretty darn cool!
Joel and I have now completed all the named front range summits: Pusch, Cleaver, Big Horn, Table, Table Tooth, Valentine, Prominent Point (west), Finger Rock Guard, Kimball, Little Kimball, GORP, Cathedral Peak, Rattlesnake, McFall Crags, and now the Finger! |
