We started at the old ferry landing in Coronado. I remember the ferries. We paddled across to the other side, and along by the USS Midway aircraft carrier, and the Star of India square rigged barkentine. Both are part of the San Diego Maritime Museum.
Then on past Harbor Island to the Shelter Island area, where we had yet another fantastic lunch at Mitch's Seafood. Then back across the bay to paddle along the shoreline by North Island, where we could see the USS Ronald Reagan, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Then back to where we started. By now it was after 2 p.m. and what had been a quiet beach at 9 a.m. was mobbed with tourists. I am not sure what they find to do there, but I sure found my niche--paddling is great! |
