As many know, Echo Canyon access to Camelback Mountain is all new. More parking and better facilities. Plus the first segment of the trail is new. That first segment is now as smooth as I-40.
I went up to the top as a recon hike, so when out of town friends ask about the trail, I can let them know the latest.

The morning was cloudy, and the valley haze was plentiful, but the crowds were minimal.
Coming back down, there were less clouds but more people. I’m always amazed at some of the outfits I see people wearing, on this city trail. I felt overdressed !

You can still continue on from the high point, but it appears 95% of people do not. I’ll bet most don’t even know you can continue.

It’s still the same good, fun hike, but now with more parking and nicer facilities.
