On an earlier hike, I had seen an arch when walking up the wash to the northeast of the sculpted rock. I wanted to further explore that arch as well. We climbed up to the caves and checked those out, then walked up the wash until we spotted the arch. From there, we went across the wash to the south, then climbed over the rocky ridge until we came to the arch. It is a large opening (about 10X12 feet) and has fantastic views of the Superstition Mountain, Bulldog Peak and the Dome Mountain trail head. It's a short fun climb if you don't want to do the hike to the Mask. |
