| no partners | | This is a round trip hike. I started just north of Hwy 60 along a road near Queen Creek and headed north to Wood camp Canyon. On the return trip I followed the Road back along Whitford canyon until I got to the Narrows of Whitford canyon, and then followed the Arizona trail back. If doing a round trip hike I would recommend this route because the road along Whitford Canyon is rather scenic. After getting back to the trail head, I headed South toward Hwy 60 to finish up the small portion of trail I didn't do. The water was plentiful this time of year but I would imagine not the case in late Spring to early fall (with the exception of monsoon season, Careful in the narrows of Whitford during monsoons). I will find out after finishing up the Arizona Trail in the Superstitions that my perception of the Superstitions was wrong, These mountains have an abundance of water and riparian areas and pine covered forest. One of the largest Juniper trees I have seen is in these mountains along the trail. I will definitely be back to the Superstitions after finishing up the Arizona Trail. |
