It's been a couple weeks since I've posted anything on HAZ. I've been busy with summer activities and it's just been brutally hot around here. The monsoon rains started a week or so ago and the weather has been much better for getting out.
I got a late start today and decided to hike up to Carr Peak. I often overlook my home mountains - the Huachucas. I enjoy going to the Chiricahuas, Pinalenos or up above the rim. However, the Huachucas are a very impressive range. That is especially true when we have some moisture; either rain or snow make the hikes extra special.
Today was one of those days. There was a nice cloud cover most of the day and the wildlife was out enjoying the cool weather. I saw probably 8 whitetail deer and a "pack" of coatimundi.
The Carr Peak trail is a fairly easy 2.75 mile one way hike. The tread is in good condition and the views make the uphill sections more bearable. Very nice parking area with restrooms, garbage containers and nice camp sites. Just a good day.

The monsoons are starting to make a difference and the bloom is coming on. I think it will be 2 weeks before we have a really nice bloom.
