| partners | | We met at Fan’s house at 4pm Saturday and piled our stuff in her vehicle and headed south. It’s a long drive and I was hoping to catch up on some needed sleep but that wasn’t in the cards. We got to Reef Townsite and setup camp and quickly went to sleep in this cool windy area. I slept okay and by about 5am we had camp broken down and a little while later we hit the trail.
The light on Carr was sweet. You follow The Old Sawmill Spring Trail for about ¾ of a mile and then hit the Carr Peak Trail. There were several deer encounters along the way. I was fairly far ahead and waited for awhile and then told Fan my plan. I headed off-trail to take care of some business and shortly after that I took another off-trail route to the peak. It was windy on the summit so I headed down after a short stay on Carr. A little while later Chris showed up and he headed up to Carr. After awhile, I decided to head back up Carr and then I took another off-trail route in search for Fan.
Eventually, I picked up her footprints and knew for sure she was ahead of us and had bypassed Carr. The trip over to Miller was on trails I had previously been on but I hadn’t been to the peak. The bathtub was almost full and everything else was pretty much the same as it was last month. The views from Miller were very enjoyable; as was my early morning Kilt Lifter. We also ate an early lunch and then Chris would summit with his pack of rocks. Later, 4 guys from Fort Huachuca would share the summit with us. The trip back was uneventful and the ride home was long. Great area to camp and it was nice to meet Fan and Chris.
Original gps stats 12.6 miles and 4,665 AEG. On HAZ, 12.45 and 4,165. What I think is closer 12.1 and 3,600. |
