| no partners | | So I am on my way to Globe and I decide to do Picket Post as I am passing by. It was overcast and the opportunity seemed right. I arrived at the trail head a little before 9 and headed out. I'm hiking along and receive the standard 9am text updates from both restaurants. All is well until 15 minutes later when I realize I missed the turn for Picket Post. I looked over at the Mountain and I was almost to the end of it. Whoops! 
Back I went and up I went. Along the way up I encountered three different places that the trail was washed out. JohnLP and the Turtle mentioned this in their triplogs so no surprise. The washout spots are easy to navigate around so no big deal. Then on the way back down I only encountered one washed out spot. I guess I chose a better route. All in all the trail is fine except for a couple areas in the middle of the route up.
There were several cattle at the trailhead. I always enjoy this one but don't do it very often because it is so short. It does pack a nice punch however with almost 2000 feet in those two miles going up. |
