I had visited the Blue Hole some years back, but since I was on my way from Las Vegas to Alamogordo, I decided to stop by again. Santa Rosa is a pleasant place along I-40, and the Blue Hole and nearby Park Lake are very popular swimming spots. This is a natural artesian feature that has beautiful clear blue water. Popular with scuba divers as well, the bell-shaped feature is capped at about a depth of 83 feet, but has been explored by divers to a depth of about 250 feet. There is a constant inflow of about 3000 gallons per minute and the water temperature stays steady at around 64 degrees. |
