what to do, what to do. Got other errands so I opted for this. I had planned to do more but it was a little hotter than I thot and I forgot the map I had drawn out. Plus my stupid electric radio alarm clock lost time so I got a 20 minute late start. I'm buying a new clock Wed.; have had that radio alarm clock for over 3 decades.

Was pleased to see shade for part of this hike so I put a little hustle on after setting my HAZ tracks (hoping it would get an A today; it did for the track but I can't seem to get the audio to work) and headed up the rocky trail. Parking areas were packed to overflowing and there were lots of people and dogs on the trail today. And then this bright orange shirt (just in time for Halloween) appeared and it was BAB (BobP) & BrunoP. We chatted for a bit before Bruno had that "let's get goin'" look.

And I continued up until the major up; it's hard, I know it, but it's still hard  . Did take one breather and continued up to the saddle where I grabbed a couple pics. I thot about not going to the Peak but since it's the name of the hike, how could I not; plus even tho it's a pretty straight shot up, it's very short. So up I went. I took some more photos with my cell phone including some panos (have to see how better to do that), made note of the butterflies and decided to hike down the way I come out (I usually go around the side and back to the saddle).

I then headed down and down the trail; it's got several new drainages. I was looking for the side trail that takes you over to the 8 but I guess you have to go all the way back to the 100 unless you go cross country. On the 8 I ended up following two other gals and since they hiked at almost my pace, I heard all about what they're wearing for the wedding ;) . I eventually passed them.

I tried to keep an eye out to see if there was a trail coming from the east to join this trail but I didn't see anything. I had used it before on a previous hike in Nov 2013. I continued my way up the rocky trail to the saddle where I sat on the bench for a bit before heading back down once again keeping an eye out for a joining trail. The only thing I could see is to just head down one of the now deeper drainages so that you don't have to hike clear back to the 100 to catch the 8.

I stayed on the 8 all the way to the TH. By the wash, you can see there was significant amount of water that had run thru as some trees were over as was the brush. The bench in the middle of it seemed fine. The last little bit to the TH there isn't much of a trail anymore.

One note, the saguaro gate is missing :( or they've re-routed the trail? I don't understand. I see it was still there in 2013 per this pic altho one doesn't look too healthy: I may have made mental note in Nov 2013 but forgot to mention it in my trip log.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
